FAMU ALUMNI OFFICIATING AT AAU JR OLYMPIC GAMES

The AAU Junior Olympic Games are known as the largest national multi-sport event for youth in the United States. There are over 10,000 athletes participating in the 2017 AAU Junior Olympic Games in Detroit, Michigan.
There are approximately 800 athletes from the state of Florida participating in the AAU Junior Olympic Games. Four Florida A&M graduates are officiating at the event: Jacques Raphel, Edward Jenks, Cynthia Mingo and G.W Mingo.
Jacques Rachel, a 1983 technology graduate, is a member of the AAU National Executive Committee. He also serves as the Florida District Lieutenant Governor for AAU sports in the state of Florida. His AAU duties also include serving as the Florida District Athletic Sports Director.
Edward Jenks, a 1961 health and physical education graduate is the Head AAU Official of the Clerk of the Course for boy athletes at the Games. He also supervises the other clerks in his section.
Cynthia Mingo, a 1963 education graduate, is a clerk of the course where she is responsible for issuing bib and hip numbers to the athlete who are checking in for their events.
G.W Mingo, a 1963 agricultural graduate, is an umpire for the running events. On the track during running events, he is looking for and reports any incidents on the track.
All four of these individuals are USATF certified officials.
